My freshman year of college, Citizen Cope played a free (for students) show on the field outside my dorm. I had no idea who he was but I went anyway and had a good time! I know it's not the typical rock music I tend to post, but his songs tell a soulful story and are catchy too.

Is there a word for "nostalgia for something that never happened to you"? As a kid I was pretty straight-and-narrow, definitely not the cool punk sk8r you'd think would be into this kind of music, yet I still have this sense of nostalgia for the blink-182 albums of my childhood.

Music Monday 20

Architects of Fear is an obscure band from the north half of Florida, and I'm pretty sure they were the first band I've ever seen perform live (I believe it was my friend Nate's 21st birthday at the Atlantic). I didn't know who they were at the time, but I loved the music and for $5 cash I bought a copy of their home-made EP. Many years later I found out they released their one and only album which included the EP's songs. You may need to have used a land-line phone in order to understand some of the lyrics.
